L.A. WRITES AND DIRECTS A SHORT PLAY -  NEVER TOO LATE!

A comedic docudrama following three generations of modern dating through apps.

A teaser for Never Too Late the play!

L.A.Winters -“Ann”,Robert Pralgo- “Wade”,Gail Yokubinas -“Anita”,Mel Pralgo - “Seymour”,Savannah Rose Scaffe - “Carley” ,Emily Soppe - “Naomi” ,And Introducing Tilly!

L.A. had an exciting opportunity in the early part of the new year. The same producer of An Evening with The Fitzgeralds, Tori Weddell of  ATL Original Works, put up the first monthly showcase of original short plays and other original pieces at Push Push Arts in College Park.

L.A. decided to use a short film script she wrote and stage it as a multi-media play! : (2 PARTS PLAY AND 1 PART FILM)

She describes the process: “What a wonderful challenge to shoot and edit the film part as well as direct and rehearse it all in 8 weeks! Thanks to my amazing cast: (my real-life mom and Rob's real-life dad are actors, so I wrote this with them in mind!)

I wanted an original song about it never being too late for love and my mom, Gail Winters, wrote an amazing one for this! My talented sister Diane Sharp arranged and recorded it as well.

My Parked the movie filmmaking/acting partner Robert Pralgo helped me shoot the documentary part and we will partner again to shoot this short sometime in 2024!

I am so grateful for my amazing cast that made the process so enjoyable and the show well received! #staytuned

AN EVENING WITH THE FITZGERALDS !

L.A. is leaning into her Lithuanian roots to portray “Aldona Yokubinas”in this original immersive play written and directed by Tori Weddell of @ ATL Original Works.

Two parts staged play and one part improvisation, L.A. had to acquire an authentic Slavic dialect and face her “fear of improvisation” head on in about four weeks!

“ Honestly, I wasn’t sure what to expect with this immersive theatrical experience. I am hooked! As an actor, it allowed me to even more easily and completely, live and breathe in the physical and emotional life of my character and through my character.

The feedback has been very enthusiastic, supportive and overwhelmingly positive. I am thankful to be a part of this wonderfully written and directed piece of art that is both meaningful and wildly entertaining!”

  • We added three shows and there are some tickets available for this weekend! Ticket link below

Things I Know to Be True was a hit!

“Incredible, intimate, production…” “BEAUTIFUL” “This play is amazing” , “So grounded and meaningful..” “You did something wonderful here…”

“L.A. Winters’ “Fran” was one stellar performance that left me breathless…”

Producing and leading in Things I Know to Be True was so many “Things” !

This was the role of my life and it challenged me in so many useful ways. It took months to acquire “Fran’s” authentic Australian dialect and even longer to find the many layers of this fierce and frank; nurse, wife and mum! The direction of Robert Mello paired with the devised ensemble movement was such an artistically elevated way of helping to tell this timely and important story.

I loved working with this exceptional cast and production team. It was so gratifying to experience the impact of this story and our hard work and hear the audiences responses! A huge Thank You to all of the support we had from the production team, volunteers, and of course the incredible audiences we had! I hope more theatre is in my near future! Stayed tuned, L.A.

I’m in a play and co-producing through Yard Dogs Ensemble!

I am truly grateful to be back to the things I love doing! Take nothing for granted and be well! Love and Peace, L.A.

WHAT’S NEW 2021 !

It's been quite some time since I could post a new project for myself or my production company, A Thousand Word Pictures. I had a few projects, that I am acting in and producing in the works, in early 2020 (one theater production and one short film MATERNAL) when COVID hit. I/we hope to pick those projects back up as soon as things are up close and personal again. I shot a supporting role in a fun indie film THE REPLACEABLES, out sometime this year!

Like the rest of our community, I/we have had to think outside the box to move forward. I am so grateful to collaborate and co-produce a short film with my good friend and award winning writer/director, Vandon Gibbs of Graphite Pictures. Vandon has written this powerful short-film script YOU CALLED with themes of mother/daughter struggle, addiction and hope.

It has been a very steep learning curve to produce this film under the SAG/Aftra union COVID protocol. We made many decisions from the outset to enable that to happen: A micro-crew and two actors (one via a FaceTime call), a one-day shoot, as well as many others. We are in post now and hope to be in festivals mid-year! (poster concept below)

YOU CALLED-2.png

YOU CALLED

A Gibbs/Winters short film: An estranged mother and daughter try to reconcile when one accidentally calls the other.

My newest short film is in post and should be completed by March 1, 2021 I am happy to announce that my production company A Thousand Word Pictures, in association with Graphite Pictures, produced this short film under SAG Covid protocols!

It is written and directed by the award winning writer/director Vandon Gibbs.

The Heidi Rew Show

Heidi interviews me about my Doublemint Gum commercial days, my twin relationship and what I am doing these days. We got very real and shared from our own sister relationships about the good, the bad and the ugly! She somehow managed to keep it fun and deep. I truly enjoyed getting to know her and share with her!

L.A. is excited to announce her new role as Associate Artistic Producer and founding member of Yard Dogs Ensemble! She is partnering with Artistic Director - Rob Mello, to shape and grow the ensemble to produce bold, engaging theatre! She will be starring in their first production for 2020, Natural Affection by acclaimed playwright William Inge. Going up in March at The Yard Blackbox Theatre in Doraville, GA .

What’s New 2019

This year started with a nine-performance run of The Fall to Earth, the play L.A. starred in and co-produced through A Thousand Word Pictures with Yard Dogs Ensemble. Not only did she receive critical acclaim for her performances but they also raised $2500 for Crisis Text Line and To Write Love On Her Arms! Suicide prevention and mental health awareness are causes L.A. hopes to continue to make a difference in. Her next episode of Cocktails & Conversations: DIY Producing will be out over the holidays. PARKED made its festival debut at the Cobb International Film Festival and was nominated for 7 awards! We are continuing our festival run through next year! Modern Prodigal found distribution and was released this summer. It can be viewed on Amazon Prime or purchased at Target! L.A. has also enjoyed filming on some other projects; Her first 48hr film contest Pizza Night, the pilot Swiped, entering the festival circuit now and her first experience working with Tyler Perry on The Oval. Check out the “REELS” page for her new theatrical reel and clips from most of these projects. L.A. is filming this fall on a fun Indie film shooting in Florida. She is also in the beginning stages of production for her next Yard Dogs Ensemble theatrical performance, starring in Natural Affection by William Inge, set to go up in 2020. Stay tuned!

PARKED is a short film about a middle aged couple trying to find closure to their long marriage. A fortuitous parking spot, a young couple on their first date, and a little luck may complicate their ending.

 What's New 2018

L.A.’s newest project is taking her back to her roots in theater. She is producing and staring in the play The Fall to Earth by Joel Drake Johnson. in hopes of raising money for causes important to her. Concurrently, L.A. is producing her own “edutainment” web series Cocktails & Conversations. She finished shooting a lead role in Evil Little Things at the end of April. The blockbuster feature film Logan Lucky was in theaters nationwide, and garnered great reviews! Rotten Tomatoes -gave it 100% !  L.A.'s  production company A Thousand Word Pictures is producing her first short film PARKED, co-written by and co-starring L.A. Winters & Robert Pralgo. It is in the last stages of post production.  Meanwhile, her first full length feature screenplay Beautiful Goodbye is in development.. Modern Prodigal, a faith based Indie feature  in which L.A. plays Marie Sanderson,  will be released sometime in 2019.

“L.A. Winters (Fay) gives a stellar portrayal of an emotionally-stunted mother in denial coming unglued whose only sense of mooring is her pathological way of being. Savannah Rose Scaffe (Rachel) offers a compelling depiction of the dutiful daughter who, like Superman, weakens as the play progresses in the presence of the kryptonite that is her own mother.”

L.A. Winters and Savannah Scaffe are performing in the play The Fall to Earth by Joel Drake Johnson, Rob Mello is directing.
